National Hot Dog Month

July is becoming Jesse's favorite month because it honors one of his favorite food....hot dogs! Did you know that there is a Hot Dog Council? They even have their own YouTube channel. :)

To celebrate National Hot Dog Month Jesse and I went to several hot dog establishments in the area. 1st on our list: Hubba. Hubba is a teeny-tiny hallway in Port Chester, NY. They have best chili in town bragging rights - Jesse approved.

Second was a little shack in NJ called Davy's Dogs. I couldn't find any pictures online and we forgot to take pictures.... but it was fun. This is the place where I tried a hot dog with pickles, and that's my new favorite! :)

Our third destination was our favorite: BARK Hot Dogs in Brooklyn. We had seen this place advertised on the Cooking Channel (not Food Network). Jesse fell in love with the idea of going here and he set his mind to it. It was quite an adventure getting there via train/subway and our feet. And a heck of a time getting back -- the train line that we needed to take from Grand Central to Port Chester was down. So we were stuck in GCT for 4 hours. But we say it was worth it. The hot dogs and whole experience was awesome. We have pictures on our camera but we forgot the cord so I'll update with pictures later.

The last (as of today) hot dog place we went to was Gray's Papaya in NYC. Yummmy! It was cheap too. I got mine with sauerkraut Jesse just had ketchup and mustard. Apparently there are some awesome juices there too but we didn't get any.

Note: this is the exact Gray's Papaya that Joe and Kathleen go to in You've Got Mail! :D So awesome.

I'm sure we'll find more places to go before the month is up... we have a week left!

Home is where the heart is

A lot has been going on for the past few weeks... 3 days after Jesse and I were sealed we had to come to New York/Connecticut so I can attend the Center of Montessori Teacher Education/New York (CMTE/NY) at the College of New Rochelle for six weeks.

We're staying with a woman from the New Rochelle 2nd ward. We contacted the bishop up here to see if there was a member willing to rent out a room and lo, and behold! Jan emailed me and ta-da! We have a place to live for a few weeks. I was a bit nervous to stay with a stranger (I did that before and it was hard), but Jan is so fun and easy to get along with. I'll be sad when we leave.

Here are some pictures of our room....

I love the skylights! It's great to fall asleep looking at the stars and waking up with the warm sun on my face...mmm, I love it.
